My passion has always been making art. Before I ever heard of Art Therapy, I was using self-expression as a way to cope, self soothe, and gain greater self-awareness. Art has been pivotal in my personal journey, and now is a part of my clinical practice, helping others.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts and TV, Radio, and Film from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006. I went on to receive my Master of Arts in Counseling and Art Therapy from Southwestern College in 2017. I passed the National Licensing Exam and received my LPC Associate license in 2021.

In my internships during graduate school, I was able to work with different populations in a wide range of settings. I have worked with young children, adolescents, adults, groups, and couples. I gained my experience while living in Santa Fe, NM, working at the Tierra Nueva Counseling Center, Behavior Change Institute, and Boys and Girls Club of Santa Fe. I moved to Austin, TX in 2018, got married, and had two kids; which slightly delayed starting my career in counseling.

I was fortunate to get hired by Behavior Change Institute, working with autistic youth, in 2017. I was able to use my background in Counseling and Art Therapy along with my Registered Behavioral Technician certification, to work intensively with kids in their homes. I also worked with the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Fe, where I provided weekly group Art Therapy called “Magical Mondays” as well as individual therapy sessions for at-risk youth. I also worked at the Tierra Nueva Counseling Center in Santa Fe where I was able to work with a wide range of individual clients, as well as couples.

I believe each person is unique, and that clients are ultimately the experts on their own life. I never assume to know exactly what another person’s experience is like. My role as a counselor is to witness, reflect, and gently guide clients toward self-acceptance and transformative healing. If you have struggled to connect with your inner-self, feel stuck or uncertain about what you might need and why, or feel blocked creatively- I offer a safe and judgment-free space to facilitate exploration and inspire further vision.

I often integrate psychotherapy practices with expressive arts and transpersonal approaches. I begin with a very open-minded intake process to explore the best possible way forward. From there, I utilize a blend of techniques that are tailored to each individual client.
